Santa Cruz Garden Effort

Click to see our initial ‘call to arms’ poster

This is a collaborative campaign to help people start growing food, and growing more food, in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With supply lines strained and a faltering economy, we affirm the continued importance of hyperlocal and dispersed food production for human health and security.

As our network grows, we are assembling an increasing collection of remote mentorship opportunities, educational media, seed and seedling distribution, and other resources to support each others’ endeavors in food growing.

Join the network and the conversation on Facebook, and let us know what you need (or what you have to offer) to start growing more food locally. Or just show us what you’ve got growing to inspire others!

See the Santa Cruz Garden Effort Resource Swap for barter and exchange opportunities, and to list your own.

Email info@santacruzorchard.org to join in with our organizing team, or otherwise reach out with your ideas.

A word of caution: With all your gardening efforts and provision of essential needs, it remains crucial that we all continue to follow hygienic protocols and safe social distancing. We are still just at the beginning of this COVID-19 rollercoaster, and many will die. See recommendations and guidelines at Santa Cruz County, State of California, CDC, and WHO.
